Youth Association Marindolus

Clubs of Youth Association Marindolus are voluntary, non-government and non-profit organisations, which bring together the young without distinctions such as social status, religion, race or any other difference. We try to do what is in our power to enable those younger than us a more active spending of free time in the era of fast technological advance, which stimulates the unbridled globalism of capital and increases the social differences in society.

The operation of Marindolus clubs in based on the values of voluntary work, encouragement of creativity of children and youth, prevention of their social exclusion, development of positive intercultural relations, and protection of human right and rights of the child. With our activities we wish to create new opportunities and experience for children, youth, and their parents, to seek new challenges in life together with them, create conditions of positivist coexistence, acquaint the broader society with the values of voluntary work, and teach the young tolerance and development of consciousness of the importance of human values. In short, we wish to offer them more than they can afford or know how to afford alone.

To fulfil this simple mission we organize free time activities for children and youth (various trips, arrangements, sports contests, bonfires, picnics, meetings just-so, youth exchanges, holiday camps, research camps and dancing courses). We assure our members education at seminars and workshops within the educational programmes of the club or within different youth structures in the local environment, in our country or abroad. Among other things we also offer primary schools help with organizing their ‘schools in nature’.

We have widened cooperation across the borders of our little country too, as we cooperate with similar organizations all across Europe. To this end we organize youth exchanges and also take part in those organized by similar associations abroad (more on this page). We are also entering the European voluntary service programme as a hosting as well as sending organization for young volunteers (more on this page).





Our most popular refuge is the village Marindol in the region of Bela Krajina (Southeastern Slovenia), where most of the larger projects are carried out (camps, exchanges and schools in nature). The name of the village was also the inspiration for the association’s name. The members of the Marindolus clubs have been engaged in this activity since 1992, when free time was, due to different reasons, left to the mercy of the modern world after the collapse of the previous country. At that time we organized ourselves outside of established organizations and unions and offered our coevals an active, healthy and fun spending of free time. Most of today’s active members of the clubs have enjoyed the wealth of feelings at the club activities, and now want to share those feelings with their younger coevals.

To the young, who like to associate and have fun, meet new and new friends, and wish to live their youth a touch differently than the adults can offer, we offer new experiences and opportunities to evolve new feelings and joys in life.

Marindolus is a movement, freedom, creativity, myth, learning – by active participation in our programmes.
